Job Description

A Montevideo, Uruguay, Engineering Leadership position (Supervisor, Software Engineering) for the Customer Touchpoints APIs and Storefront (CTAS) organization with focus on Digital Connect (DC) Products/Systems. The position offers a unique opportunity to lead MVD-based software development teams for an evolving E-Commerce and Platform suite of Products/Systems which power the world’s leading airlines and agencies, and convergence thereof.

The individual has to be the right fit for the position – this goes beyond technical skills, competencies, and experience, but into realms of culture, ethics, morals, attitude (up, down and lateral), the ability and capability in working Collaboratively in heavily matrixed global environments, the ability to assimilate into CTAS, Digital Connect: leadership, product and business partners, undertake direct (HR) responsibilities over development teams and indirectly influence global development. The person needs to be highly ethical, has very high moral standards, shows mutual respect, works well across global teams, sharing knowledge, is an excellent team player within and outside the immediate teams and sphere of control and influence.

The individual needs to be able to manage multiple conflicting priorities, with minimal day-to-day direction, solve for the immediate, yet deliver for the longer-term - on time and budget, juggling multiple projects in parallel and quickly switching context. Requires Project and Release Management knowhow to drive development and delivery based on decisions aligned to the organization and company strategy goals and priorities; needs to oversee modern and legacy technologies, bring innovation and POCs to reality, implement industry and SDLC best-practices to create a value proposition, cost-effective development/delivery for positive ROIC. 

The individual needs to be able to implement strategy in realization of company/organizational objectives by ensuring high-quality, realistic, timely, accurate, development production of business needs, consistent with SDLC best practices and aligned to industry, organizational and company standards. Will require management and development of systems which are stable, fault-tolerant, high-performant, well-instrumented, compliant and ‘Always On’ in high transactional global distributed and cloud environments.
 

Job Requirements

 

EDUCATION: Business or Technical/Engineering Master’s degree combined with a Technical/Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from reputed/accredited universities. 


SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT:12+ years of progressive SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), with experience spanning facets of Architecture, Design, Solutioning, Development, Quality, Operations, Support, with emphasis on progressively managing larger software development teams. Proven leadership ability to lead/direct multiple projects simultaneously and get the job done – high-quality, on time, on budget. 


PEOPLE MANAGEMENT: 5+ years in a People Management Role independently managing large teams / organization constituting employee, contractors, SOW teams, and next level managers / supervisors – providing guidance, and growth. Proven leadership ability to delegate work to subordinates, taking full responsibility and accountability for their actions. 


COMMUNICATION: Crisp and clear communication skills – written and verbal, with the ability to interact with multiple stakeholders (business, technical, non-technical, customer) at varied levels, in a cool and calm manner
