Job Description

Senior DevOps engineer on the Hospitality Solutions Digital Experience (DX) Technology Team. 

The DX Technology team develops applications that support consumer-facing travel-related retailing experiences.  We are looking to grow our DevOps team.  You don't have to be an expert at every technology we use (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, website hosting) we use, but a good grasp of some of the advanced topics and the ability to learn quickly is necessary. Most importantly, we seek talented engineers and who are passionate about DevOps and providing support to our technology teams and business partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recommends, designs, and implements technical solutions for infrastructure setup, configuration, deployment, and maintenance for applications on various infrastructure and environments
  • Applies the latest industry advancements to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, performance, and repeatability of setup and deployment.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots environments and infrastructure in production.  Often involves resolving a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
  • First line of defense for troubleshooting production issues with environments and infrastructure prior to routing issues to application development teams
  • Manages and implements full end-to-end website hosting technical solutions including installing SSL certificates, DNS name changes and renewals, using content delivery networks, and other various web hosting topics
  • May participate in client-facing proposal presentations, as needed, in addition to ongoing team account activities.
  • Often viewed as a consultant for general website hosting and infrastructure topics

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong infrastructure setup, configuration, deployment, and maintenance experience using Linux and Apache in cloud environments
  • Strong experience managing SSL certificates and domain names, URLs, etc
  • Familiarity with server-side components such as MySQL, Databases, APIs etc.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Ability and desire to learn and work with new environments and technologies as needed
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks in support of one or more projects that require a singular area of expertise.
  • Work as a project team member, or independently on small projects.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with PHP, HTML, JavaScript
  • Expert in infrastructure reliability, scalability, performance, and continuous integration and delivery topics
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to share insights and expectations with clients, stakeholders and colleagues, both locally and remote.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years related experience.
