Job Description

We are looking for an experienced manager and network engineering leader who has significant experience in managing network security, engineering, and support teams. The right candidate will have a strong technical background and roots in engineering. Just as important, the right candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams in supporting large enterprise and/or service provider networks, working with internal/external customers, and being a disciplined and visionary leader for the teams under his care. The right candidate should be able to work cross functionally across IT and business teams to collaboratively deliver solutions, manage incidents, and proactively identify opportunities to improve the organization. We are not looking for a project manager, but someone who has the presence, leadership style, as well as proven domain expertise to lead and guide the organization to ensure success in our key initiatives. The position will report to the Sr. Director of Infrastructure Architecture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with business unit stakeholders and other IT teams to understand business requirements, manage team resources, and deliver to meet Sabre’s project goals
  • Manage delivery of network deliverables with stakeholders including product development teams to ensure that roadmaps and timelines align with business objectives
  • Resolve team and group level resources to ensure prioritization and timely delivery against projects
  • Manage professional development of the team and identify candidates for appropriate advancement and succession planning
  • Ensure 24x7x365 support coverage of all production network infrastructure including management of on-call schedules
  • Champion change, internal disruption, and effectively socialize company values in the organization
  • Influence a diverse set of stakeholders through excellent relationships, deep domain expertise and a commitment to driving good decisions
  • Engage other engineering and operations teams to maintain and enhance partnership

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent experience

  • 15+ years of technology related experience with large enterprise or service provider networks
  • A solid engineering history with a deep passion and curiosity for technology
  • A proven track record of managing high performance network engineering teams
  • Experiencing in managing and cultivating teams
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting large scale, highly available systems
  • Strong understanding of public cloud architectures, technology, and deployments incl. AWS, Azure, and IBM Cloud
  • Strong experience in building large scale distributed internet systems
  • Expert problem-management skills and the ability to apply lessons learned
  • Strong understanding of Application Delivery & Load Balancing methods
  • Strong understanding of DNS & DNSv6
  • Good understanding of Linux and Windows architecture, design, and workloads
  • Demonstrable practices in team organization and team building
  • Demonstrable practices in owning and maintaining standards and documentation
  • Strong experience with Visio, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams
