Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements and directs the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function and/or a software quality assurance function.
  • Develops budget and manages activities of two or more functions, sections, departments and/or projects through subordinate managers.
  • Responsible for a 75+ member globally distributed team
  • Responsible for results in terms of costs, methods and employees.
  • Provide leadership, career development, and mentoring for the team
  • Hands on approach to better understand the technical challenges faced by the Team; guide the team in technical solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Oversee the planning & technical direction of various development projects
  • Desire to advance team members professional development and career progression
  • Participates in problem management processes to look for tooling, automation and monitoring opportunities to improve performance and management of systems and networks
  • Participates in the management of key vendor and partner relationships
  • Provides leadership and direction through managers and senior individual contributors

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Sabre Hospitality Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead a team of Directors, Managers, tech leads and engineers responsible for developing software solutions for the world’s leading Hospitality brands. The ideal candidate is excited by the prospect of leading our team to further optimize our production software applications for scale and speed in imaginative and innovative ways.

 

Engineers at Hospitality Solutions build large, distributed, and real-time software application that power the leading Hospitality chains of the world. We are looking for a team leader who shares a passion for tackling the challenges and complexities that come with building highly available solutions that can scale for the largest of the Hotel chains in the world.

 

This role reports directly to the VP of Software Development in Hospitality Division. Key contacts that this role is required to interact with include business and product leaders of Sabre Hospitality Division, leaders of Sabre Hospitality Product Development, Sabre Tech Operations and leaders of our key customers.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of best practices for Building Software, planning, and operations
  • 15+ years of technology related experience in product technology / startup companies, building high volume, consumer facing, highly reliable and scalable product development using open source technology stack with extensive experience in Javascript / Java / RDBMS and No SQL DB technologies
  • A minimum of 3 years of Director level leadership experience managing large, globally distributed teams of technical professionals and cross-functional teams, as well as experience influencing executive level management and key stakeholders
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to both business and technical audiences
  • Self-driven and a strategic leader who continuously raises the bar for self and the team
  • Candidate should be extremely hands-on technically and should have a deep passion and curiosity for technology
  • Must have a BTech degree in Computer Science or related field from top universities; MS in Computer Science or related fields strongly preferred

  • Exposure to open systems is strongly preferred

  • Success in hiring and developing highly effective software engineering teams in a global team environment

  • Ability to take raw product requirements and create software architectures and designs to bring them to life.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Product Marketing, Engineering, Program Management, Quality Assurance, and Senior Leadership
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and opinions
  • Technical Expertise - Involves demonstrating a commitment to increasing knowledge and skills in current technical/functional area, keeping up to date on technical developments, staying informed as to industry practices, knowing how to apply relevant technical processes to appropriate business needs.
  • Dedication - Involves demonstrating a desire to dedicate time and energy to accomplish goals, tasks, assignments, etc. Will do what it takes to get things done.
