Job Description

The Research Sr Analysts assists in developing prototypes to demonstrate new concepts for travel retailing, including developing statistical and optimization models for advanced decision making in travel. The position also consults with and provides guidance to a number of departments and senior management on advanced technical issues.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

-  Understand the underlying business problem

-  Work with others (and learn to) extract and manipulate needed data, summarize the data with advanced statistical techniques, and design and test optimization models

-  Conducts logical analyses of complex to highly complex management problems, management information requirements and formulates mathematical models of problems for solution by computer

-  Works with others to develop mathematical models of problem areas in one or several equations that relate constants and variables, restrictions alternatives, conflicting objectives and their numerical parameters

-  Works with developers to create a prototype to illustrate new ideas resulting from data analysis and optimization ideas

 

Job Requirements

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

 

We require knowledge in two to three of these areas, and some job experience is a big plus

-  Machine learning techniques, such as deep learning neural networks, random forests, boosting

-  Optimization modeling (linear programming, dynamic programming, nonlinear optimization)

-  Large-scale data analysis and statistical modeling, using R or Python

-  Java, C++, Javascript, cloud computing

 

EDUCATION

  • Ph.D in Operations Research, specializing in formulating and solving large-scale optimization problems. 
  • Nice to have:  Experience with airline operations research, especially for marketing (flight scheduling, pricing, revenue management)
