Job Description

The Senior General Accountant will play a key role in maintaining corporate accounting ledgers, executing month-end close tasks and controls and preparation/presentation of balance sheet analyses as part of the Corporate Accounting team.   Corporate Accounting team manages the global month-end close process, performs various accounting functions, oversees compliance activities, and manages the tools utilized by the global accounting teams.  In this position, you will have the opportunity to interact with a broad and diverse group that includes Finance, Treasury, Tax, Business Systems (IT), and Internal/External auditors.  This role is an excellent opportunity to utilize accounting, critical thinking /analytical skills, and project management skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining corporate accounting general ledgers:
    • Post journal entries, ensuring adequate documentation/support retention
    • GL balance discrepancy identification, research, and resolution
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts in a timely manner, ensuring reconciling items are identified, researched, and resolved or explained
  • Execute month-end close tasks and related SOX controls related to foreign currency revaluation/translation, SAP master data accuracy (GL, cost centers, FX rates), global P&L intercompany eliminations
  • Prepare and present corporate and Sabre consolidated quarterly balance sheet fluctuation analysis to management 
  • Perform controls in support of SAP segregation of duties (SOD) compliance program
  • Assist with coordination of global month-end close cycle
  • Support Blackline reconciliation and tasks program/initiatives
  • Support/lead special projects and department initiatives, including collaboration with Business Systems on SAP general ledger functionality/improvements
  • Support external audit quarterly/interim PBC process and support external/internal auditors in their annual audits

  • Evaluate areas of direct/ cross- functional responsibility for opportunities to standardize/gain efficiencies and implement process improvements

Job Requirements

Experience:

  • 5+ years public or industry accounting experience
  • Proficiency working with SAP or large ERP system and HFM/Essbase
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP principles and interrelation between financial statement line items
  • Solid experience with SOX and internal controls, including completeness and accuracy concepts/ documentation
  • Intercompany, foreign exchange and multiple currency exposure
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills (e.g. root cause analysis, risk assessment/impact/what could go wrong)
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel knowledge (v-lookups, pivots, functions)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA/CPA candidate preferred
