Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As a key member of the Sabre Travel Network Strategy team, the Principal Travel Network Strategy Analyst will assume a strategic role in the overall growth and success of the Travel Network (TN) segment of Sabre. The position will report to a former BCG consultant with over 8 years of consulting experience. This position will be responsible for supporting both near-term and longer-term strategy development for TN.  This role will work closely with other members of the TN strategy team, and teams from across TN on projects to develop business unit strategy, evaluate industry landscape and commercial models, and tackle pressing issues raised by business unit leaders and decision makers. In addition to pure-play strategy, the role will also have opportunities for P&L engagement and structuring, interactions with customers, running transformational/PMO workstreams for senior leaders, and being an “ambassador” to functional groups or senior leaders across Sabre.

  • Commercial model evolution
    • Define distribution landscape, including trends, key players, economic flows, and potential disruptions
    • Develop and model future scenarios based on potential risks from evolution
    • Model downline implications of proposed changes to understand impact to industry participants and identify sustainable ways to evolve model
    • Present recommendations to BU President and senior leaders
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders to understand their needs and identify ways to manage industry evolution

 

  • Next generation distribution technology
    • Assess industry technology trends via interviews with agencies, suppliers and corporate travel managers
    • Develop fact base on current state of travel technology and recommend further technologies to develop
    • Develop commercial models for new technologies
    • Coordinate launch of the technology development project: develop priorities and work plan, define roles and responsibilities, and identify deliverables
    • Manage a cross-functional team include key stakeholder from Travel Network and Airline Solutions product teams, as well as technology department
    • Share recommendations with CEO, CFO, and BU Presidents in bi-weekly update meetings

 

  • Product and Pricing Strategy
    • Assess competitive landscape and profile target segments
    • Lead a cross-functional team in developing product strategy and commercial positioning
    • Create and test pricing, bundling, and discounting constructs in the marketplace
    • Align senior stakeholders across product, sales, marketing, and operations
    • Present recommendations to senior leadership

The team is engaged in high-impact strategy projects that result in specific actions taken by the business unit to shape the business including commercial model decisions, product decisions, and investment in new technology.  Team members works closely with senior business/functional leaders, and learn about both the supplier and agency side of travel distribution.

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Financially astute with sound decision making, strategic acumen, process improvement and analytical problem solving capabilities
  • Strong presence and previous experience relating to key customers/clients and articulating a company’s direction, plans and approach, both in one-on-one environments and presenting to larger groups  
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management, with the capability to guide, educate and influence the thinking of senior decision makers
  • Strong internal and external relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity and complex strategic analysis projects

 

CANDIDATE CRITERIA:

  • An undergraduate degree in an area of rigorous and analytical study is required
  • MBA from a top-tier program is required
  • 1-2 years of post-MBA experience with a top-tier (MBB) strategy consulting firm is preferred or 2-4 years of experience from a Big 4 firm (Deloitte/Accenture/EY/PWC) or 3-4 years in Corporate Strategy or Corporate Finance as an analyst from a Fortune 1000 corporation or similar
