The Principal - Application Security Architect will be a direct report to the Sr. Director – Security Architecture, Engineering, and Cyber Threat Management. This position will develop the necessary cloud security architectural solutions and strategies to support Sabre’s application security services and strategy. The Application Security Architect will have the opportunity to understand Sabre’s business needs and marry that with an understanding of software development team processes and complex Technology, Engineering and Operations (TE&O) environments to deliver collaborative and effective solution sets. This position will directly contribute to overall enterprise application security and help drive the security vision and strategy across a variety of applications and architecture. 

 

The Application Security Architect will serve as a point of contact for application development teams, application security teams, TE&O, and other technology teams within the organization for all matters related to application security. 

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strong relationships within key areas of business and IT to improve and/or develop application security standards and features with a focus on integration into a standard CI/CD pipeline (GCP, AWS, Azure Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift, Ansible, Jenkins).
  • Produce key security architecture deliverable as part of initiatives related to application security (documented design reviews, workflows, architecture diagrams, changes to controls, applicable standards, etc.)
  • Provide input to security roadmaps and budgets as appropriate, based on evaluation of existing controls
  • Proactively identify security gaps, propose solutions, and follow through with application security and engineering teams for implementation

Job Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience with Security Engineering or Architecture
  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • At least 2 years of experience with software development delivery and pipelines
  • Strong cybersecurity experience across network, application (web/API), and public/private cloud security architecture (web application firewalls, container, etc.)
  • Experience performing threat modeling and design reviews to assess security implications and requirements for introduction of new technologies
  • Experience with deployment orchestration, automation, and security configuration management preferred
  • Hands on programming / scripting experience (Python, Java, etc.) preferred
  • Technical writing experience preferred

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to work in a diverse team of security professionals
  • CI/CD – Deployment pipeline delivery (i.e., Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Ability to manage complex issues and develop solutions
  • Detail-oriented, excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities


Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience 
 
Preferred Certification:
Certifications such as: Certified Application Security Specialist (CASS), Certified Application Security Engineer (CASE), Certified Web Application Defender (GWEB), or other equivalent certification(s).
