Job Description

We are looking to bring on board a seasoned Technical Sales Director to lead the Product and Technology Consulting team supporting one of the world’s largest travel companies, Expedia Group.  Expedia is Sabre’s largest travel agency customer, representing many of the world’s best-known brands such as Expedia.com, Hotwire.com, Travelocity.com, Hotels.com, Egencia and many more. This pivotal new role will work within the travel agency sales and commercial organization of Sabre Travel Network, reporting to the Vice President of Sales for Expedia Group. 

 

The Director of Product and Technology Consulting will play a key role in creating and defining value for both Sabre and Expedia, providing the customer with unique insights and expertise to optimize the end-to-end process of servicing their customers. The individual will develop and manage a collaborative consulting team focused on technical sales offering holistic consulting (products, API integration, air shopping optimization), supporting both the sales team and the customer throughout the entire sales cycle process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the development and execution of a technical sales & consulting service for Expedia – on a global basis, across regions and customer segments;
  • Create a framework for customer consulting, management of projects and priorities, and collaboration on best practices with other online/agency teams;
  • Understand the business priorities expressed by the commercial team and the complexity of the global travel market;
  • Help in prioritizing investments to maximize opportunities and return on investment based on keen insight into Expedia’s business and technology needs;
  • Mentor, develop and effectively manage a global technical sales & consulting team;
  • Reporting directly to the Vice President of Agency Sales for Expedia Group, based at Sabre’s headquarters in Southlake, Texas.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A proven technical background gained in the travel technology, aviation or wider enterprise technology sector;
  • Demonstrable track record of understanding market requirements as well as product functionality and delivery constraints;
  • Technological implementation and analytics experience demonstrating customer value and rationale;
  • Able to implement processes and methodologies to optimize effectiveness both internally and with the customer;
  • Ability to add commercial value by making impacting business decisions with credible consulting solutions;
  • Strong interpersonal, people management and development skills;
  • Demonstrable leadership experience gained leading diverse technical teams;
  • Ability to work in an environment of change where strong leadership and “can do” attitude will make a difference;
  • Internationally savvy with excellent relationship building skills and ability working with and managing virtual teams;
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams within a matrix structure;
  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent qualification (Business and/or IT science degree preferred);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
