Job Description


The Director of D&A Platform Strategy defines and executes the data and analytics platform strategy and associated programs for Sabre.  They will manage the D&A Platform as a product, and lead in the planning, evaluating, and selecting the right data and analytics capabilities for the enterprise and help distributed analytics staff to have the best D&A skills, processes, and technologies possible.  This role serves as an advisor to the leadership team to develop and deliver enterprise-wide solutions for complex data challenges.

 

Team Description

  • Data and Analytics (D&A) product team develops, maintains and manages data and analytics solutions for Airlines, Agencies and Hoteliers.

 

Role and Responsibilities  

  • Defining Data & Analytics Strategy: Identifies and standardizes the use of data and analytics platform and tools. Creates value by unlocking and sharing data and information in ways which will spur innovation.
  • Defining and Managing Data & Analytics Platform Investments: Works with Product Management and GPD leaders to identify areas of technical and data needs for future data and analytics capabilities. Drives the development and deployment of the data and analytics platform.  Identifies and prioritizes projects and enterprise data initiatives utilizing D&A capabilities. Drives and executes Pillar 3 GCP Migration of all D&A products
  • Advising and Reporting: Serves as the Data Analytics technical advisor.  Represents the D&A team and enterprise data stewards at leadership meetings and conferences.  Develops and gives oral presentations on the power and value of data.  Leads and/or serves on steering committees and helps leadership use its data effectively at these meetings. Drives internal education with Data Literacy Programs, CEO Creation, Vendor sponsored trainings, etc.
  • Facilitating Internal and External Collaboration: Collaborates with industry data experts to allow a proactive approach to improving insights derived from various data sources.  Applies expert knowledge and mastery of analytical methods, and standards to analyze enterprise results and reports, relevant external publications, and conference papers. Recommends and pursues collaboration and provides appropriate technical guidance to ensure the success of such collaborations. Interacts with business areas and TEO on D&A solutions.
  • Identifying Opportunities for New Data Products: Lead strategy development for D&A products to ensure the program becomes pervasive throughout the organization and helps enable new revenue streams.  To support these endeavors, collaborate with the GPD and TEO to ensure that data, platform and tools are in place. Be a champion for the information services and related D&A capabilities. Drives data democratization across Sabre. 

Job Requirements

 

Must Have Skills:

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience in data management, including creating partnerships, implementing data governance, and understanding the underlying technologies needed to enable data innovation across a midsized or large organization
  • Ability to define strategic initiatives and oversee the development of long-term plans and proposals
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment
  • Ability to effectively coordinate, allocate, and manage resources and projects throughout multiple teams
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the fields of data management and data analytics
  • Exceptional analytical, written, oral, and presentation skills with proven track record of effectively communicating actionable insights
  • Exemplary diplomatic skills and ability to help senior business leaders see value, opportunities, and risks beyond their own area of expertise
  • Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of issues and solutions
  • Demonstrated experience with developing data strategy, policies, and procedures, as well as successfully executing programs that meet or exceed expectations in a dynamic environment; experience creating tools and capabilities to assist with data discovery & collaboration
     

Nice To Have Skills:

  • Industry-specific knowledge of data security protocols, policies, and regulations
  • Information management and quantitative skills, including working knowledge of IT infrastructure, various technologies/platforms, and enterprise-specific vendor solutions
  • Background in programming, query languages, and data visualization platforms such as Cognos, Tableau, Looker are also preferred
  • Familiar with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Big Query, Teradata, Vertica) and Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools such as Talend, and Google ETL tools
