About the position:

 

Who are we?

 
In Sabre’s Ancillary Services group our objective is to ensure that airlines, travel agencies as well individual customers have a wide range of options to offer, order and shop for ancillary products (flight elements like bags, seats and other facilities. Merchandising is a key part of airline strategy to increase revenue, while at the same time improving the customer's end-to-end experience. Our Ancillary Services Engineering group consists of 4 Scrum teams in Poland and US who work on multiple backend Java services supporting ancillaries merchandising solutions.

 
 

Who are we looking for?

 
We would like to hire a passionate Java backend developer with a proactive mindset and problem solving skills. One who is ready to face technical challenges along with her/his Scrum team and to ensure high quality of developed software on daily basis. Ideally you should already have some experience in developing commercial backend Java based services. Experience with the following frameworks, techniques and tools would be an asset: Java 8 and 11, Springboot, Swagger, Groovy, Cloud(AWS, GCP), Docker, GIT etc.  If you have worked in an Agile/Scrum environment or have basic understanding of that methodology it is also an advantage.  
 

What will you be doing?

 
You would be actively engaged in design, development and testing of application/service functionalities within the agreed and planned sprint tasks. Activities include regular tasks like peer code review and enhancements of service infrastructure (i.e. ElasticSearch Kibana/Grafana stack).

 

In this role, you will be:

 

• Developing, coding, testing, debugs and demoes software solutions or enhancements to existing software under experienced team members supervision
• Design and code applications using advanced technology under experienced team members supervision
• Resolving customer and internally reported issues within team defined responsibilities and under experienced team members supervision
• Work in a Scrum based team and actively participates in team agreed practices
• May assist in development of software technical documentation
• May create optimization programs to resolve problems under experienced team members supervision
• May design and build prototype applications under experienced team members supervision

What you bring:

 

Education:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent 

 

Experience: 0-1 years 

 

Required Skills:

 

• Good JAVA programming and scripting skills
• Experience with some of the JAVA related frameworks like RXJava, Spock, Spring, Camel etc. 
• Understanding of TDD practices 
• Good knowledge of JVM based application design
• Good problem solving and analytical skills
• Good communication skills in English, written and verbal

 

Additional Skills: 

 

• Understanding of Agile Development 
• Familiarity with XML/Web Services technologies
• Familiarity with in GIT
