Role overview

This is a new role created for an experienced tax professional (min. 4 years PQE) to bring insight and rigor to corporate income tax for the group’s EMEA entities. We are seeking a competent tax professional with initiative and drive who will develop an efficient and effective regional business structure underpinned with robust statutory tax compliance. 

The role will include responsibility to deliver tax returns for the more complex entities in the EMEA region including the EMEA main operating company, finance and holding companies, supporting tax audits as they arise and supporting the transfer pricing initiatives and documentation. The EMEA tax manager will provide tax review of business contracts advising on efficient tax structuring of those arrangements and will be involved in tax aspects of projects including development, integration and rationalisation of the group structure in the EMEA region.  

Primary Job Responsibilities:

•    Responsible for corporate income tax matters for various entities within the EMEA region including: 
    -Country-level tax planning and research – including working closely with Cosec /legal /accounting /US tax departments on driving forward projects and tasks/transactions within those projects and producing tax technical reports for Senior Manager and US tax approvals.
    -Technical resource for tax matters – supporting the business in EMEA, advising on various issues such as acquisitions, due diligences, expansion into new territories, contract reviews, withholding taxes, dividends, recapitalisations, transfer pricing and liquidations.
    -US GAAP tax accounting including FIN48 and FAS5 reserves and documentation, NOLs and valuation allowances, tax on US GAAP to local GAAP differences.
    -Country-level income tax provision and income tax accounting – provision of information to tax reporting specialists for relevant sites.
    -Provide insight into income tax liabilities and payments for forecasts and annual/multi-year-outlook plans.
    -Country-level income tax compliance – responsible for corporate tax compliance of selected companies utilizing support of outsourced tax services provider. Reviewing tax returns and return-to-provision tax true-ups, tax account reconciliations, and cash forecasts for selected companies.
    -Assist with tax audits - working with local accountants and tax advisors, dealing with communications and minimizing further queries. 
•    Work with tax service providers to complete EMEA tax compliance on time and within Budget.
•    Monitor and internally communicate tax legislative and judicial activity for EMEA.
•    Participate in special projects associated with EMEA taxes, as assigned by Senior Manager. 


Job Requirements

Required Education/Credentials/Skills/Work Experience:


  • Chartered accountant (ACA), Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) or equivalent.
  • Big 4 tax experience.
  • 4 or more years post-qualified experience (PQE) in taxes, including experience in international taxes either in practice or in-house.
  • Strong experience of international tax compliance, group tax reporting and tax advisory.
  • Experience with and a good understanding of US GAAP accounting for taxes for group reporting.
  • Experience of OneSource Tax Provision software and SAP an advantage.
  • Fluent in English, additional languages welcome.


The EMEA Tax team


The Sabre EMEA tax team is located at Sabre’s head office for EMEA in Richmond (next to the station) and has responsibility for tax planning and compliance in 30 or more countries across the EMEA region as well as providing information to the US tax team for group reporting requirements.  There will be five people in the Richmond team, led by the Senior Manager, EMEA Taxes and including a Corporate Tax Principal, a Tax Accountant, a VAT Manager and this new position.  The team reports to the Senior Director for International Taxes based in Southlake, Texas USA.
