Job Description

Senior Database Administrator

The Database Administration team works with the Travel Solutions Product Development teams delivering travel solutions across the enterprise. Our Team provides operational database support for activities necessary to implement and maintain the database system for a product. We not only plan complex databases, including operational procedures and protection but also ensure accuracy and consistency of data, maintain security and integrity controls. We work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. We are technology innovators using cutting edge technologies.

Responsibilities:

•    Provides technical assistance to development teams
•    Optimizes physical data structures, generates scripts to create database objects such as tables, partitions, indexes, views, sequences, etc.
•    Moves, rebuilds, or changes database objects as required, assists with impact analysis of any changes made to database objects
•    Performs SQL review and performance tuning
•    Assist in developing archive and purge procedures for historical data
•    Proactively monitors and fixes databases availability and performance issues
•    Uses and develops database automation tools to automate repetitive tasks
•    Creates and maintains Oracle databases required for development and testing usage (non-production environments)
 

Job Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with Oracle database systems.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of ‪SQL language‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
  • Experienced in managing database objects, including tables, partitions, indexes, views, sequences
  • Expertise in database performance tuning troubleshooting using TOAD or SQL Developer or Oracle Enterprise Manager
  • Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux from DBA perspective
  • Basic knowledge of ITIL best practices and tools (ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Nice to have
  • Experience with design, installation, and troubleshooting of data replication tools such as Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard
  • Experience with PL/SQL programming
  • Experienced in any of NoSQL technologies such as Couchbase, MongoDB, Redis or Cassandra
  • Experienced with Linux system monitoring and analysis
  • Knowledge / Experience with storage administration
