What you will achieve


In the Sabre Hospitality Solutions (SHS) business division, we develop the world-leading SaaS solutions for the global hotel industry, serving 40,000 hotel customers. We are currently seeking a Sr. Manager of Enterprise Architecture to lead one of our Architecture teams.
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture in SHS, this position will play a critical thought leadership role in our future. You will work at the intersection of technology strategy, agile Product Development, new product innovation, cloud development, and global customer interactions with enterprise accounts.

This position may be remote in the US in accordance with our “Work From Anywhere” policy. 

The Sr Manager of Enterprise Architecture will:

•    Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to define technical requirements, deliverables, and assist in setting expectations within the business
•    Defining and updating of the overall technology vision and strategy, helping to ensure its progress within the Product Development roadmap.
•    Hands-on creation and presentation of Architecture Design Documents that capture non-functional requirements from the perspective of business, software, data, and infrastructure architectures.
•    Review of all architecture documents created by your team to ensure completeness in vision and accounting for the competing concerns of the technology strategy, non-functional requirements, customer needs, and product roadmap. 
•    Conduct regular open office hours for mentoring and developing engineering staff in architectural concerns
•    Keep current on technical advances in the industry, including microservices, distributed systems, cloud (particularly GCP), deployment and delivery automation, machine learning
•    Accountable for the design, for the ease of evolution, quality of the systems, performance, scaling, and availability characteristics of the systems
•    Supports and reinforces our development process with the architecture and product management teams, acting as a champion for high-quality implementations, and helping communicate and clarify our processes. 
•    Perform code and design reviews of components created by engineers and architects
•    Drives the architectural and service governance program
•    May occasionally need to perform hands-on development of interfaces and frameworks for the engineering team to further implement
•    Work with product management, business stakeholders and other engineering leaders to help define mid-term, long-term roadmaps and shape business directions; drives the non-functional requirements of the product
•    Meet occasionally with enterprise customers in support of our largest deals, create presentations for customers representing our technology current and future state, provide estimates and guide scoping for large mission-critical system needs and mentor your team to do so
•    Ability to manage your team toward stringent individual goals that advance the overall Architecture strategy and Product Development roadmap, working with Sabre HR and Finance

The successful candidate will have

•    Minimum 7 years’ professional experience in software development in B2B and B2B2C SaaS solutions prior lead experience preferred
•    Minimum 4 years’ professional experience in formal architecture and design of distributed, service-oriented, cloud-based systems preferred
•    Minimum 2 years’ managing a team
•    Professional experience in hospitality technology is preferred

Necessary skills:
•    Ability to inspire and lead a team of technical architects located around the world
•    Act as a thought leader with the technical experience, presence, and communication skills (both written and spoken) to influence leaders and engineers across the organization
•    Strong hands-on technology experience building and running large scale, highly available systems handling high volume of transactions in Java and/or .NET
•    Deep understanding of cloud architectures and Google Cloud technology and deployment
•    Deep understanding of Service Oriented Architecture, including REST and SOAP principles
•    Deep understanding of network, queuing (PubSub, TCP/IP) and caching technologies
•    Solid experience in large scale RDBMS systems and NoSQL stores such as Oracle Exadata, Cassandra
•    Strong design/development experience in building large scale distributed systems and products
•    Expertise in multi-threading and performance-oriented programming for 24/7 systems with very high transaction volume
•    Excellent abstraction, coding and system design skills and a deep passion and curiosity for technology;
•    Expert knowledge of .NET framework (C# language) and/or Java
•    Expert understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and programming best practices
•    Strong QA awareness (Unit Tests, TDD, Performance tests)
•    Excellent communication skills in English, written and verbal
•    Proven leadership ability
•    Strong understanding of Agile development processes, including CI/CD 
•    Understanding of regulatory and compliance guidelines that inform the architecture of a global public company, including GDPR, PCI, PII, SOX, and SOCII

Nice to have skills:
•    Machine Learning using Python, SciKit or GCP 
•    Google Cloud Platform tools including gRPC, ProtoBuf, BigQuery, PubSub

•    Bachelor’s degree required. Candidates with degrees in non-traditional areas for such a position, including in Philosophy or other liberal arts, are encouraged.
•    Certificates related to Architecture such as TOGAF or GCP are preferred
