Job Description

In the Sabre Hospitality Solutions (SHS) business division, we develop the world-leading SaaS solutions for the global hotel industry, serving 40,000 hotel customers. 

Principal Enterprise Architect

The Enterprise Architect will work at the intersection of technology strategy, agile Product Development, new product innovation, cloud development, and global customer interactions. It’s a critical role with that demands skills across these diverse areas.
Working on the SHS Enterprise Architecture team gives you opportunities to develop your technical, business, and intercultural skills, cooperating with people from all over the world. In this role, you can enjoy a mix of hands-on design and leadership, building on your skills performing global scale design of mission-critical and high transaction systems, cloud migration, working with agile teams and interacting with global customers.
This position may be remote in the US in accordance with our “Work From Anywhere” policy. 

•    Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to define technical requirements, deliverables, and assist in setting expectations within the business
•    Creation and regular updating of the overall technology vision and strategy, helping to ensure its progress within the Product Development roadmap.
•    Hands-on creation and presentation of Architecture Design Documents that capture non-functional requirements from the perspective of business, software, data, and infrastructure architectures. 
•    Conduct regular open office hours for mentoring and developing engineering staff in architectural concerns
•    Be a technical leader with a passion for solving our most complex design challenges from a holistic view
•    Keep current on technical advances in the industry, including microservices, distributed systems, cloud (particularly GCP), deployment and delivery automation, machine learning
•    Accountable for the design, for the ease of evolution, quality of the systems, performance, scaling, and availability characteristics of the systems
•    Supports and reinforces our development process with the architecture and product management teams, acting as a champion for high-quality implementations, and helping communicate and clarify our processes.
•    Perform code and design reviews of components created by engineers and architects
•    May occasionally need to perform hands-on development of interfaces and frameworks for the engineering team to further implement
•    Meet occasionally with enterprise customers in support of our largest deals, create presentations for customers representing our technology current and future state, provide estimates and guide scoping for large mission-critical system needs
•    Occasionally be a visible representative of SHS and Sabre in internal and external technical forums

Job Requirements

•    Minimum 7 years’ professional experience in software development in B2B and B2B2C SaaS solutions prior lead experience preferred
•    Minimum 4 years’ professional experience in formal architecture and design of distributed, service-oriented, cloud-based systems preferred
•    B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent-
•    Certificates related to Architecture such as TOGAF are preferred

Necessary skills:
•    Act as a thought leader with the technical experience, presence, and communication skills (both written and spoken) to influence leaders and engineers across the organization
•    Strong hands-on technology experience building and running large scale, highly available systems handling high volume of transactions in Java and/or .NET
•    Deep understanding of cloud architectures and Google Cloud technology and deployment
•    Deep understanding of Service Oriented Architecture, including REST and SOAP
•    Deep understanding of network, queuing (Pub/Sub, TCP/IP) and caching technologies
•    Business acumen with prior experience in business process optimization
•    Solid experience in large scale RDBMS systems and NoSQL stores such as Oracle Exadata, Cassandra
•    Strong design/development experience in building large scale distributed systems and products
•    Expertise in multi-threading and performance-oriented programming for 24/7 systems with very high transaction volume
•    Excellent abstraction, coding and system design skills and a deep passion and curiosity for technology;
•    Expert knowledge of .NET framework (C# language) and/or Java
•    Expert understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and programming best practices
•    Strong QA awareness (Unit Tests, TDD, Performance tests)
•    Excellent communication skills in English, written and verbal
•    Proven leadership ability
•    Strong understanding of Agile development processes, including CI/CD 
•    Understanding of regulatory and compliance guidelines that inform the architecture of a global public company, including GDPR, PCI, PII, SOX, and SOCII

Nice to have skills:
•    Machine Learning using Python, SciKit or GCP 
•    Google Cloud Platform tools including gRPC, ProtoBuf, BigQuery, PubSub
