What you will achieve

Sabre Hospitality Solutions team is seeking a highly motivated professional for the Quality Engineering Manager - Defect Elimination role.

In Hospitality Solutions our Software Engineers build large, distributed, and real-time software applications that power the leading Chains and Hotels of the world. 

This role is a central role in the Quality Engineering Division, acting as a front facing liaison between various teams managing, reviewing, and routing of Production Incidents/Defects across multiple project/teams. The right candidate will possess a strong large scale program management background, with a track record of experience across large portfolios working with global cross functional teams delivering projects with tight deadlines

As a Manager - Defect Elimination, you will:
•    Exhibit strong project/program management skills across a large portfolio, working with several global cross functional teams
•    Learn inter-related business domains and applications, develop a deep understanding of the main drivers for defects – advocate on behalf of customers driving resolution of most impactful issues. Monitor and study production systems, use cases/user flows and help discover issues before the customer discovers it; keep a holistic view of quality health
•    Focus on User Experience and drive improvement measures of production systems, such as, reliability, quality, with an eye for customer pain points, developing insight into long standing issues needing prioritization
•    Ownership of Defect Process – establish and oversee end-to-end defect management process, ensuring proper hand-offs and coordination, managing RCAs. Assist Dev and QE on prod defect prevention through tracking of defect reactivation rate.
•    Establish Defect Review Board meetings – increase the presence of defect review; increase visibility and status of defects. Facilitate recurring conference calls/meetings to triage issues for any customer facing high priority issues
•    Release Oversight: Monitor production for recent production deployments for any Incidents/Defects and manage the defect resolution engagement with teams. Primary QE point of contact for Production Incidents/Defects. QE face-off with internal customer partners, triaging prod critical defects, gathering RCAs
•    Communication - Drive communication, collaboration, liaise, routing, facilitation of validation, escalation management across several groups (such as PO, PM, AD, RE, SRE, QE). Communicate regular progress/risks to stakeholders.
•    Change Reviews – represent QE in Change Review approvals|tickets|meetings
•    Quality Standards & Policies – help ensure defect management quality standards and policies are consistently implemented across; ensure Rally/Jira/Salesforce hygiene is maintained, ensure ease of adoption, establish guidelines for Defect Management tasks, engagement with support team
•    Dashboard & Reporting – establish metrics, measurements, and reporting of production defects driving reduction and improving quality. Develop and share metrics dashboard, recurring reports, and operational decks.
•    Compliance & Audit – ensure relevant evidences are maintained for compliance audit; liaise with compliance team as required
•    Build cross team Synergies – continuously identify process gaps/recommend efficiencies, identify risks and help foster cross team synergies

The successful candidate will have

REQUIRED SKILLS:

•    Strong project/program management experience 
•    Demonstrable experience of 10+ in program/product management, leading global cross-functional teams driving defect management across several projects/teams including review/resolution/prevention
•    Experience in using data to derive insights and drive improvements
•    Excellent communication skills – written and verbal with various levels within the org
•    Ability to actively lead and steer defect management/review meetings and facilitate actionable outcomes
•    Possess sound working knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies – issue tracking systems and issue management processes
•    Proven experience working in high pressure environments with strong time management, prioritization skills

Technical Skills: 
•    Dashboard Development – Excel macros/Grafana/Tableau etc.
•    Metrics Collection – Splunk, Unix
•    PM & Agile tools – Rally/JIRA/SNOW
•    Six Sigma/Lean/ISQTB/Agile - SAFe/PSM

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related fields, PMP
