The Senior Data Scientist applies expert level statistical analysis, data modeling, and predictive analysis on strategic and operational problems in airline business. As a key member of the Sabre AirVision Operations Research team, you will leverage your statistical and business expertise to translate business questions into data analysis and models, define suitable KPIs, and graphically present results to a wide range of audiences including internal and external clients, sales, and development team. In addition, you will source data from multiple different data sources, write high-quality data manipulation scripts in R, Python, Perl, bash, etc, develop and apply data mining and machine learning algorithms for advanced analysis and prediction. You will also utilize your strong communication skills to work with developers to support product development cycles and decision makers who need empirical data to promote sales and growth.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced Degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Econometrics, Physics or related Quantitative disciplines (or equivalent level of experience)
- Demonstrated ability to apply modeling and analytical skills to real-world problems (preferably logistics and transportation related problems)
- Expert-level fluency in applying advance multivariate statistical analysis (logistic & linear regression, decision tree, cluster analysis, and ANOVA) to categorize, classify, and detect data relationship in large datasets (not fitting memory)
- Experience with applying complex business logics to extract and cleanse large datasets from different data sources (xml, txt, xls, sql, etc)
- Solid programming skills with knowledge of R, SAS, SQL, Python or other data-extraction and analysis tools and programming languages such as Java
- Ability to understand complex business requirements and define KPIs to measure benefits and communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Desired Skills and Experience
- Masters or PhD Degree in relevant field. Candidates with Bachelors degree with 3+ years of experience in relevant fields are also eligible.
- Able to read research articles and develop new statistical and optimization algorithms to fit our business needs
- Knowledge in Business Intelligence (ETL, Data staging, OLAP), and able to quickly learn and program new tools for multi-dimensional data visualization and decision support.
