Sabre Travel Solutions Development:

The Lodging Ground & Sea (LGS) team supports the Hotels, Cars, Rail & Cruise line of business. The LGS team is growing, and we are seeking a Director of Software Development. This person will be responsible for leading a global engineering team across multiple GCC’s and building amazing products for our customers. The successful candidate is an experienced software development leader who understands all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations.

The candidate should to be able to plan and coordinate complex discussions across teams, working with technical and non-technical people, including software and quality engineers, product managers, program managers, marketing and support teams.
 
We need someone who is comfortable building teams, developing staff, and leading by example.

Good experience with the cloud environment and open systems software’s & frameworks would be an added bonus.
 
The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, management skills to convince senior leadership team at Sabre about new possibilities, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment.
 
Responsibilities
•    Leading organization of 3 products and ~4 fully owned Scrum teams
•    Overseeing development and quality assurance activities
•    Ensuring availability and stability of the system
•    Managing system incidents
•    Coordination with product management and other teams to balance priorities and staff allocation. 
•    Managing headcount and salaries
•    Mentoring/coaching 
•    Building effective, self-organizing teams
•    Career development 
•    Optimizing individuals’ and teams’ performance
Education:  BS Degree or equivalent work experience in a software engineering discipline - Master’s Degree is a plus
 

 

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Experience: 
•    Typically has total of 16+ years of experience out of which 8+ years of progressive management/leadership experience
•    Experience with Agile development methodologies
•    Strong people management skills: 
o    Unleashing people’s potential
o    Providing healthy feedback
o    Ability to manage, coach and motivate staff in both technical and leadership aspects
o    Delegation skills - includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement
o    Abilities to drive the change
•    Track record of successful, on-time product delivery with complex, challenging projects
•    Strong problem solving and data-based decision-making skills
•    Strong and effective written, verbal and presentation skills
•    Should understand budgets and manage spends across Capex and Opex categories.
•    Should be a great advocate of engineering practices.
•    Should challenge status quo and look at improvement programs and initiatives.
•    Should successfully partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, Account management and Support teams to evolve, grow and take the roadmap & product forward.
