Director Software Development

Sabre Travel Network Development:

The team is rapidly expanding and we are seeking a Director of Software Development. This person will be responsible for leading a global engineering team and building amazing products for our customers. The successful candidate is an experienced software development leader who understands all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. The candidate should be able to plan and coordinate complex discussions across teams, working with technical and non-technical people, including software and quality engineers, product managers, program managers, marketing and support teams. We need someone who is comfortable building teams, developing staff, and leading by example.

The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, management skills to convince senior leadership team at Sabre about new possibilities, be self-driven and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.


  • Leading organization of ~40 engineers
  • Overseeing development and quality assurance activities
  • Ensuring availability and stability of the system
  • Managing system incidents
  • Coordination with product management and other teams to balance priorities and staff allocation.

Education:  BS Degree or equivalent work experience in a software engineering discipline - Master’s Degree is a plus

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Typically has 8+ years of progressive management/leadership experience
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

    • Ability to manage, coach and motivate staff in both technical and leadership aspects
    • Delegation skills - includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement
